The Story

HomeWorks cgo is a building company owned and operated by John S. Gelfusa and Dave Calvin. John and Dave started HomeWorks with the intention of creating a construction company unlike any other; a company that is built on hard work, integrity and honesty. Their clients will tell you that they have succeeded!

Both John and Dave have building and construction coursing through their veins. a pictureJohn started working with his father when he was a small boy. He would spend summers helping his dad with his trenching business. He started small but eventually he was running the machinery and learning everything about the business. John eventually landed at Lawrence Technological University where he studied architecture and building trades. He received his builder's license in 1994 and in 2007 he received a CGR (Certified Graduate Remodeler) designation. John is a master at knowing how buildings are constructed, how to deconstruct them and rebuild them safer and stronger. His architectural design background gives him the knowledge and foresight to not only build it better, but build it with that 'wow factor' that his clients are looking for.

Dave's father was a contractor and the owner of a door manufacturer. Dave also spent hisa picture childhood in the family business helping his father and learning everything there was to know about the work he did. Dave and his father also built new homes together and completed many remodeling projects. Dave received his builder's license in 1983 and started his own business as a vinyl window distributer and installation expert. Dave was content with windows, but wanted to modernize more than just home exteriors. He wanted to expand into different aspects of home renovation.

When John and Dave pooled their knowledge, John with his knowledge of structure and design and Dave with his vast experience of the renovation industry, what began to take shape was a simple philosophy of taking the design process to the customer. Many contractors at that time still believed that the customer should be drawn in to there elaborate showroom to start the design process so they could be dazzled by the manufactures displays. John and Dave never saw it that way; instead they believed a large show room was an unneeded expense that would just translate into higher prices. They believed that by bringing the design process to the project location it would make it simpler to envision the finished project and engage the customer in the process. This allowed HomeWorks to give the customer exactly what they're looking for.

Today HomeWorks provides full residential architectural designs in house and will provide complete 3D drawings and sketches that will help you make the tough design decisions. Whether you are looking for a simple family room addition, an elaborate kitchen restoration, or a whole house renovation to accommodate your growing family, HomeWorks will work with you until you are satisfied with both the design and the completed project.

HomeWorks is truly the Smart Way To Remodel!
