Tips for Using Columns in Your Kitchen

Using columns in your kitchen can make a stunning impression or an ugly mistake. Here are just a few examples of what to consider when adding columns to your design.

Consider scale: when you have a large open space you need a column with presence. These columns demand your attention.

When we look at a column we expect it to be beautiful but to also serve a purpose. Give your columns a purpose. These columns have nothing to support.

One column with no visible purpose says the contractor needed a way to get electricity to the island.

Here is a great example of proper column scale and great integration.   Also notice the column is holding up an arch which gives it purpose.

These columns have no purpose and leave you wondering why they are in the design.  Not to mention the island looks like an upside down table.
