Based in Macomb. Working in Macomb Township.

Macomb Township is where HomeWorks CGO Inc. completes more remodels than in any other community. Our warehouse and field operations are at 51445 Industrial Dr in Macomb, and every tile, countertop and fixture for your project is inspected there before it is delivered. Since 2001 we have rebuilt failed showers, opened kitchens to dining rooms and turned cramped tub alcoves into walk-in showers in subdivisions from Westminster to Middlecreek Estates. Every Macomb Township job starts with a free measure and 3D design, and the workmanship is covered for 10 years.

KITCHEN

Kitchen opened to the dining room

Creekside, Macomb Township · near 21 Mile and North Avenue

A load-bearing wall came out for a support beam and rerouted HVAC, making room for an island that seats four.

Read the project

A Creekside kitchen was separated from the dining room by a load-bearing wall. To open the plan, our team installed a structural support beam and rerouted HVAC. The new layout included an island with seating for four, white cabinets, dark flooring, a geometric backsplash, and matte black accents.

Water from the old shower was reaching the basement, so the room was gutted and rebuilt around a new waterproofed tile shower.

Read the project

In the Sumpter Forest Subdivision, water from a leaking shower was reaching the basement. The project called for a full bathroom gut, followed by a newly waterproofed tile shower, 12"x24" porcelain tile flooring, a vanity with quartz top, and new fixtures.

Walk-in shower with white subway tile and a floating wood vanity in a Westminster guest bathroom

BATHROOM

Tub-to-shower guest bathroom

Westminster, Macomb Township · near 22 Mile and Tilch

A cramped 5×12 bathroom traded its steel tub for a full walk-in shower and a floating vanity.

Read the project

In the Westminster subdivision in Macomb Township, a three-piece bathroom felt cramped around its old steel tub. Our team replaced the tub with a full shower and installed a floating vanity about 10 inches above the floor. White 3-by-9-inch subway tile continued across the walls beyond the shower. The room gained easier floor access beneath the vanity and a more open feel.

Rebuilt Legacy Farms shower with a pebble floor, corner seat and two tiled niches

BATHROOM

Failed shower rebuilt

Legacy Farms, Macomb Township · near Fairchild and 22 Mile

The shower failed after about five years. We rebuilt just the shower, with correct waterproofing behind the new tile.

Read the project

A shower in the Legacy Farms subdivision had failed after only about five years. The rest of the bathroom remained in good condition, so the project focused on removing and rebuilding the shower rather than replacing the entire room. The important work was behind the finished tile: correct waterproofing and a sound installation.

My Macomb Township shower is leaking or failed early. Can you rebuild it?

Yes. In Legacy Farms a shower failed after about five years, so we rebuilt just the shower with correct waterproofing behind the new tile. In Sumpter Forest a leak was reaching the basement, so we gutted the room and built a new waterproofed tile shower. We look at what is behind the tile first, then recommend the smaller or larger fix.

Can a small Macomb Township bathroom trade its tub for a walk-in shower?

Yes. In a 5-by-12-foot Westminster guest bathroom we replaced the old steel tub with a full walk-in shower and hung the vanity about 10 inches off the floor, which opened up the room. Subway tile carried across the walls ties the shower and the rest of the bath together.

Can you remove a wall to open up my kitchen?

Yes, when the home’s structure allows it. We check whether the wall is load-bearing and what plumbing, electrical or HVAC runs through it, then handle structural support, engineering and permits as the project requires. In Creekside, we opened a kitchen to the dining room with a support beam and rerouted HVAC.

What should I expect when remodeling a 1990s Macomb Township home?

Many homes built here in the 1990s have OSB subfloors that got wet during construction and now feel soft, green board behind shower tile instead of a waterproof backer, and weak waterproofing. We check the subfloor and joists before tiling and replace what is damaged. Read our 1990s home guide
